“Ray, wake up!! We have to go look for the results!!”, I screamed at her face, causing her to fell down tumbling on the floor from her bed.
Groaning in pain, she sat up, stared at me and growled, “why the hell did you wake me up from my slumber? This better be important!!”
“Whatever Ray, it’s not like as if you’re a vampire or anything.. oh that’s not the point!! The results—I mean the classes and weapons we’re gonna get are out on the board today!!”, I cheered, finally be able to be in an ability class and mostly because I am going to get a weapon to play with—okay, I admit – I’m playful around dangerous things.
“Oh, okay.” Ray whispered in a low tone, trying to not wake up every girl in the dorm. “But we have to be fast and wake Qiqi, Aya and Kurai up, okay?They have to know the results too.”
With uniforms clearly covering our bodies completely, me and Ray went into Qiqi and Aya’s room –where it is only a stone throw away, okay, its only next door, and didn’t exactly woke up Qiqi, since she threw us out by the time we poked her a little—and woke Kurai up in her dorm – the boy’s dorm (mainly because everyone mistaken her as a guy)—and within a few minutes, we all rushed to the notice board located at the school hallway and fortunately, none of the students were there yet. “Hey, I’m in Fire Class, and I’m gonna get a katana!”, examined Ray, along with Kurai’s, “and I’m in Thunder Class, and my weapon is… woah. A bazooka!”
“I’m in ... Water Class.”, I said nonchalantly, my finger trailing across the paper.“Oh, and my weapon is a gun. Sweeeet..”
“Bloody sweet! I’m in Earth Class”, cheered Aya. “And my weapon is…” a huge –-and creepy—smile on her face. “…a dagger.”
With her creepy smile shining onto our faces, Ray, me and Kurai backed off due to the creepy yet evil aura surrounding her. Just as when we were about to walk off when students arrived to the notice board, Qiqi appeared running like a leopard to us and started choking me while taking a glimpse of the crowd forming in front of the board. “WHY THE HELL DIDNT YOU WAKE ME UP EARLIER!!??”, she screamed, her face redder than a beetroot.
Stuttering, I replied, “*gasp* we did*gasp* try to wake *gasp* you up *gasp* but you *gasp* threw us out!!” with my mouth exhaling for air.
“oh.”, Qiqi then replied, letting me go with an oh-I-see-so-that’s-why face.
“Luckily, well, only half lucky, I managed to look for yours. Your class is...is it air..Well I think it is...and your weapon is a bow with poisonous arrows”, I said, rubbing my neck from the previous attack –err, yeah, The Choke—from Qiqi.
From the top of her head, I swore I saw a bubble speech that popped out with a question mark stuck on it, and without even asking, I spoke out the words, “—sigh, yes, Qiqi, those bow things where you shoot things with the arrows, just like an archer”, and she replied with none other less than, “omg, how did you—never mind—really?!COOL!!” and skidded off to wherever she’s going with a happy face.
Chapter 4:The Day Comes
“Nami?Nami??Hey, Nami!!”
Those words from Kurai woke me up, with hints of sleepiness stuck at both my eyes. “You okay, Nami?You look tired, Nami. Maybe you should go take a day off today—“
“—No way!!”, I shouted to Kurai, trying to convince her.”I’m not sleepy, I’m just a little tired!!Anyways, today is test day, the day where we fight with our partners to see who is better, and I can’t possibly not win when I’ve practiced all night!!”
“..um, well…fine”, Kurai sighed, patting my head.”But don’t you fall asleep or anything later okay?I don’t want you to – oh my, the test is starting!I better go get my partner, Allen Walker. Apparently he is seriously gentle, so I gotta be gentle on him a little.”
“Okay!I’ll just sit here..”, I shouted to Kurai as she walked out of the classroom and I then took a chair at my seat, where Subaru is sitting next to me.
Without even realizing he was there, I then sighed to myself, saying to myself,”not asleep, huh?” and then I realized a pair of pitiful eyes that belonged to Subaru is staring at my gloomy face.
“What?”, I glared, causing him to look away.
Within a few minutes, we were then called with our partners to the fighting chamber, where we gathered outside a small ring where one pair of us were picked and fight until one of them gives up. And to think my luck is good today, I was wrong.
“Alright students”, exclaimed Sensei Suma.” Time to choose our first pairs!!”
The crowd cheered and wooed when sensei spoke out my name and Subaru’s. With Ray who appears to be sitting next to me gave me thumbs up and I then walked to the ring with Subaru next to me. With nervousness filling up my stomach, I stared into Subaru’s eyes, trying to focus that he is the only one I wanted to kill today, but it seems that the sleepiness and tiredness stuck at my eyes seem to get heavier and heavier.
“Ready, set, fight!!”, sensei shouted as I hold out my gun in front of him, sensing danger coming from him. I was right when he held out his hands and suddenly his nails grew sharper and longer than it normally was, and same goes to his other hand. He then neared me, grabbed my collar and whispered to my ear, “even though I look gentle, im gonna kill you today.”
With those words flowing in my body, I suddenly have a firing feeling to kill him and I started to run at him and shoot a bullet at him, where he managed to avoid me with a swoosh and flapped away the bullet to somewhere else. “Darn it!”, I shouted as I avoided his claws attack and ran past him.
As I kept trying to attack him, he seemed too fast when a sharp pain suddenly appeared at my shoulder. Darn it, I thought. He scratched me. As I realized that he is in front of me, I was about to attack him again with hitting him with my gun when a sudden white appeared at my sight and before I knew it, I fell on the surprised Subaru.
“What the—“, he shouted, as I landed on him flat, causing both us to tumble down together onto the floor. Before I knew it, I realized my sudden faint was caused by my over-tiredness.
…Mizu-san? Mizu-san…?
With a sharp pain taking over my head, I opened my eyes to see Subaru in front of me along with my other friends; Ray, Kamui—well, I don’t really know if their partners were my friends--, Kurai, Allen, Aya, Syaoran, Qiqi, Ayu, Eichi and Daichi. “Nami, thank god!!Are you alright?”, cried Ayu, the headmaster’s daughter and also one of our best friends.
“I’m fine, im just..tired..where am i?”, I groaned, trying to move.
“Well, you’re pretty lucky Nami, cause Subaru here –cough cough—kinda ‘brought’ you here, the nurse’s room”, smirked Kurai, causing Subaru to blush.
“Really? ...he did?”, I asked in surprise, turning my attention to Subaru.”But I thought we were enem—“
“Even though we were suppose to fight each other doesn’t mean we cannot help each other”, said Subaru with a gentle smile. “Besides, I can see that you were pretty much sleepy, and it’s not really fair.”
All of them wooed both me and Subaru as we both blushed and Kamui then hit Subaru’s back gently, and said,” way to go, bro.”
“Wha---?”, Subaru asked in surprise as Kamui walked outside with the others. “Subaru, I guess you both need some time alone. Come on guys, lets go leave those two lovey doveys alone.”
“Chotto mat—“, Subaru shouted as Kamui closed the door shut, causing an awkward silence to appear inside the room.
“Anno, eto…”, Subaru whispered to himself as he turned around, facing me.”H-h-hows your shoulder? A-are you alright?”
“I’m fine, and, um.. arrigato na, Sumeragi-kun.”, I said, trying to make the awkward silence disappear. “Sumeragi-kun, I hope I did’nt troub—“
“Subaru is fine”, Subaru said, sitting at the chair placed next to the bed where I’m currently at. He then with my surprise handed out a vanilla chocolate bar to me.
“Arrigato…Subaru-kun”, I exclaimed, causing Subaru to go redder than he was earlier. “And since im calling you Subaru, you can call me Nami, ne?”
“H-hai”, he quivered, standing up.”I-I better go, I guess—“, and without my realization, I grabbed his arm and blushed.
“Please stay, don’t leave me..”, and with those words echoing the room, an awkward aura suddenly grew between us and disappeared when the nurse appeared.
“Eto..Mizu san, I hope you are able to walk now because you are now free to go.”, exclaimed the nurse, causing Subaru to pull me and ran outside, back to the chamber.
“What the—“,I said in unison, trying to solve the puzzle when Subaru said, “Come on, we both wouldn’t want to fail this test.”
With those words, a real gentle smile then appeared on my face.
