Chapter 1:Normal School Life
Namine’s POV
Drops of sweat rolled down my cheeks as I silently stared at the board and at the same time looked down to my hidden paper under my notebook that I was sketching on while the teacher in charge was teaching my worst subject; math. With all those complicated numbers written across the board, the scorching hot heat, plus with the electricity out at the moment, anyone could’ve fainted right at that moment.
Whats worse, the class is SOOO boring! Then it seems, I managed to fight my instincts and sat up straight at my seat just to ease off a little of the heat gathering at my bottom. I was about to grab my bottle of water when the teacher, Ms. Fang called my name and I stood up right away, the expression of dumbfound covering my face. “Miss Mizu, I would like you to solve this equation on the board, and do not play around when I’m teaching”, she demanded, pointing to the board with her black marker pen.
“ Umm, uhh..”, I dully replied, while trying to look for the formula inside my oh-so-messy notebook.
“ Hurry up Miss Mizu, time won’t wait that long,” she added, pointing to her watch as a few of my classmates giggled at her stingy yet so grumpy behavior applied on her face.
I was about to walk to the front of the class when I tripped over my friend’s bag and fell down on the floor, flat on the face. My face was red hot as chili as my classmates, even the annoying teacher, laughed at my clumsiness. I then without bothering the growing awkwardness aura inside the classroom stood right up and walked straight to the board to finish the equation.
Time flew by so fast and the nightmare class finally ended, sending everyone flocking out their classrooms with their bags and notes hugged to their bodies. My faithful friend who appears to be close to me and sits next to me during class, Kurai appeared right beside me and started our daily life routine ; walking home together. I kicked a few small stones when Kurai then started a conversation with me. “So, how was school today? Any better?”, Kurai asked, eyes with glints of curiosity.
“Nah, not much. Nightmare class, Miss Fang, and being laughed at for tripping over a freakin’ bag.”
“Hahahaha. Typical you, Nami.”
“Yeah typical me. Especially for that Miss Fangs. I wonder if she’s a vampire?”
“I don’t know, but I bet there’s a reason why she’s called Miss Fangs.”
“Maybe it’s because she’s not married yet, even though she would grow moss on her. And oh, you
know, sooner or later you’re gonna end up being a complete guy with that hairstyle and uniform.”
“hahahahahaha, funny.Hey!! What’s wrong with my hair!?It’s not my fault gay guys would fell in love with me!!”
Both of us then simply chuckled.
The usual empty conversation goes on and on until when we’ve reached home, where I said my goodbye to her and continue crossing different paths. The gentle swish of the wind seems to catch my attention when it carried along the crimson leaves of autumn. Pretty, yet very painful, I thought, flipping my hair to the right side. I suddenly stopped for a while when a strong wind seemed to blow my skirt so high it can almost expose my panties, and without wasting any time, I quickly pulled my skirt down and scanned around the area to make sure no one saw that. Relieved sighs then escaped through my mouth when I found out that no one was there, until I hear a loud laugh. “Ray!! You saw me!!”, I shouted as I turned around and saw my best friend, Ray laughing like a mad sheep on her knees.
“I’m sorry, hahahaha.. It’s just… *snicker* you’re wearing those polka dot panties your mom gave you!!!!HAHAHAHAHA!!!” “RAY, YOU PERVERT!!!”, I shouted, hitting her head with my bag as I chased her around the park. We were both chasing each other when someone suddenly caught my attention, causing me to stop and Ray to fall on the ground, breathing heavily. “Yo Nami, what’s up wit… oh”
Our eyes both landed on a beautiful teenage girl, like our age sitting around a bench near the park, and I hurriedly ran to her and hauled, “QIQI!!!” and hugged her straight away. “Ha ha, hey there Nami, my dear cousin, long time no see! Miss me?”, she replied, patting my head.
“MISS YOU!? I would kiss your poster every night before I go to bed!!” I sniffed, sarcastically making kissy motions. We were chuckling when we were both interrupted by Ray, who appears to be dumbfounded.
“ Qiqi? Your cousin?”, Ray asked with an astonished face, scanning Qiqi’s uniform that appears to be the same as our uniform. “ Uh.. are you transferring to our school?”.
“Yep! And I like, gotta renovate this uniform! It’s so..so..” “not pink?”, I continued with a smirk appearing on my face. “Yeah, that’s it!! Plain and no pink!!” Typical Qiqi, I thought and chuckled as I saw the face expression of Ray; speechless and dumbfounded.
Both me and Ray feel dumbfounded looking at my cousin when she was hopping around, singing, “pink! Pink! Pink!”. I then thought to myself, guess school’s gonna be interesting after all.
Chapter 2:The Unexpected Partners
My eyes blinked repeatedly, trying to cover my eyes with my palms. Staring at the bright sky, I slowly mouthed with a hint of voice “ah, Ray.” As she blocked my sunlight view while I was lying down on the wide, green grass at the field next to our dorm. “ Ah, you’re finally up, Nami-chan. Everyone’s waiting at the main hall, yo! The elections awaits us, Nami-chan!!” , said Ray, eyes with the sight of glorious and joy.
“Whatever…”, I replied, about to roll back to sleep when Ray suddenly took hold of my tie and dragged me to the Main Hall of our school. Sheesh, Ray does not know where to stop when she wants something, I groaned in my thoughts.
My eyes were stunned by the appearance, surroundings, and other stuffs in the hall. Even though I’ve been at this academy for a year, never before I’ve seen a hall so beautiful! The walls of the hall were colorfully decorated with posters and banners with bright, cheery words written across them, along with glittery lined banners being held at the top of the hall room.
Balloons were beautifully placed among every corner there is, with bright colors such as red, blue, pink, and so on. A sea of students, male and female can be seen, filling up the hall, creating a noisy yet so enjoyable atmosphere, also creating invisible heat that can be felt across the school hallway. Yet I still don’t know what is going on!, I thought as I silently stared at Ray, Kurai, Aya and Qiqi cheering and laughing at each other.
Finally giving up, I sighed with desperation and tugged Ray. “What’s going on, dude? Is there a giant birthday bash or is someone whom we hated died in a freak accident?” I asked, my eyes caught by two male students trying to flirt with Qiqi as I simply chuckled.
Hearing my question, she simply chuckled and punches me gently at the shoulder. “No, silly! My god, have you forgotten? We’re in year 2 now, and it’s time for us to get our weapons, ability class, and partners!” and when she mentioned partners, I mean coughing the word ‘partners’.
“Partners?”, I asked. “You mean… we’re gonna be getting Our powers?!”, I screamed in delight, not knowing Kurai and Aya was listening to my conversation between me and Ray.
Ray then glomped me and said, “yea, Nami. And pardieeeners ~ your ‘destined’ one. But not for love, I mean, I don’t know about that. They say they’re partners for training with your weapons, if you know what I mean.”
“WHAT?! But why?? I don’t want a par –“
HOOOOORAAAAH!!!The headmaster is here!!!!
Those loud, cheerful words interrupted my sentences and filled the hall as our headmaster, Headmaster Hyuuga cat walked across the stage, holding the microphone like an Oscar trophy. “Good morning, my dear fellow students of our Celestial Academy!”, he hauled as an opening speech, which I believed had been rehearsed twice a day. “ As you all know, today is the day where all of you year twos get their ability classes, weapons, and importantly, their partners!!”
And in the exact same time when the headmaster mentioned ‘partners’, the whole crowd cheered –well, more like the male students groaning, the female students squealing with delight—as two new transfers that I believed to be twins appeared at the stage with them. Eyes stuck to them, the headmaster cleared his throat and said, “dear students! These new transfer students will be in our school, and I considered them special because they’re both vampire twins!!Cheer for them, Kamui and Subaru!!”
“Greeeat”, I groaned at Ray, my fingers locked to my strands of hair.”I still can’t believe he’s Ayumi’s pops. He’s soooo gay!”, I sarcastically waved my hands at Ray, ignoring the headmaster’s speech and causing Ray to chuckle. “Since they’re kinda cute, I bet they’re gonna partner up with Qiq—“
“…and since I’ve already found their destined partners, they will be with… Subaru, with Namine Mizu, and Kamui, with Ray Slifer.”
“__WHAT!?!?”, me and Ray both screamed at the same time, as we were both pulled –by force from the girl prefects (God how I hate them so much!) – Up to the stage to meet Subaru and Kamui as the crowd hauled with wows.
